Re: Trim Actuator

I'm posting this for your info not for any negative feed back. Check Ebay/Cessna parts. There are usually some listed for sale. Far cheaper than buying new parts. The bearing can be purchased at a bearing supply store. Just say'in!

Re: How to install a Baggage Door?

So, how would you describe how much of the plane you need to a person with a sawza and a baggage door for sale. I have someone willing to 'cut out the door' for me but I want to make sure I get what I need. Is a general statement of "Six inches all around" safe enough? David Those incline...

Re: floats for C-170

Give some thought to the gross weight issues. Many of the "Approved" floats have 2100 lb gross (Floats) I believe that the issues are based on the shape of the vertical stab and elevators although Wipline got a 2200lb approval on their 2100's. Just say'in

Re: Oil Leak

A leaking front seal will put an oil mist on the windshield. I have had it happen on 3 Continental engines including my 170. There is a Service Bulletin ContinentalSB-M76-4.pdf to sand the crank area where the seal rides on the crankshaft. I have some of the 180 grit emory cloth if you need a small...

Re: Micro VG's

I have done about 160 hrs in a 170B with the micro VG,s fitted but found myself still landing at the same speeds as before and started to wonder if they were really were needed in the first place. PLUS ,the aircraft lost about 5 mph in cruise. however cleaning the aircraft was a chore especially ar...

Re: aircraft primer

As I recall there are "Primers" and there are (Primers). The two serve totally different purposes. 1). Paint primer, for use to build up surfaces and provide a compatible surface for finish coats to adhere to. 2). A protective coat to prevent corrosion. (Not to be over coated) The second w...

Re: Ground Looped Aircraft Purchase

There are many very nice 170B's out there with no damage history. If it were me I'd be looking for such. Repaired aircraft could have major issues with alignments in the fuselage or wings, prop strike issues and after purchase is normally when they show up as not flying straight and the like. If it ...

Re: 337 for 175 wings

I had good luck using that letter coupled with a 337 getting my installation approved as well as using the electric fuel senders and "Mitchell" peanut fuel gauges. You have to live with the 170 gross weight (Darn!)

Re: Lower Forward fuselage cracking

There are many old posts referring to cracking in that area as well as cracking engine mount stringers. I'd do a search for those posts.
