Shouldn't the prop bolts be safety wired?

Do you think it would be good to check and document the rudder balance before stripping the paint?
I know people have been surprised how far the balance is off AFTER the job is done.
This way there will have a baseline on the balance when it was flying.

You can also contact Nuvite for suggestions.
I always used G7 with a rotary 6 inch fleece pad and go back and forth. You can blend it in so it can barely be visible. F series is even more agressive.

Jim
That makes sense now except for the year. So when imported to Canada, does the data plate change with the N to C tail number? Have a great New Year and hope to see you at OSH this summer.

Re: C170 Serial Numbers
Hi Jim, Hope all is well. Perhaps the registration in the US was deregistered and now it is in the Canadian system. I am not sure how to look that up if we even can do it. All straight 170s were 48 manufacture and I owned sn 18041 which was earlier than his and it was 1948. A pic of his data plate o...

Re: C170 Serial Numbers
It was manufactured in 1948 as the straight 170's were. This N number (N2571V) has been "Deregistered" If this is a project, it is recommended to try to get it registered as soon as possible and to request the same N number. I am aware of a different airplane that is being restored and it ...

Re: Is this 49 original?
The baggage area behind the seats is enclosed in green canvas. This same material is on top of the seat springs. So I will see whats under the side, door, and seat panels. A 48 I owned had the green canvas in the baggage compartment. That is original and heavy. Since it might be worn out, have one ...

Re: Is this 49 original?
You have enough evidence to prove that the upholstery is original. The vinyl design on the rear seat matches what I have seen even on 48's. The fabric appears a little darker than I have seen but as an Oshkosh judge, the picture and a fabric sample in the presentation book would be enough evidence t...

Re: Is this 49 original?
Probably original.
Search this 170A as it is probably one of the best 170A restorations. I believe Steve sold it but there are alot of articles and pictures out there:

1950 Cessna 170A, N5752C

Re: Barkweave reproduced
I have brown material that was under upholstery that was added to an early 48 170.
I can't post pictures since I am not a paying member.

Might also consider PTFE hose assembly from Spruce AE3660240B0180
The 0180 is 18 inch and you might need a different length.

I don't believe that would be legal for any A&P to do, but not a surprise coming from Mike Busch.
