Re: Cyl/Exhaust Temps
I have read articles and told by AP/IA's on updraft engines the CHT Probe should be on a top spark plug, mine is on No #6 Top. Appreciate any tips on Oil Additive, Cam Lube for LYC, how about AV Lube for Cont? Marvel Mystery in Fuel? Thanks JD Smith

Re: Cyl/Exhaust Temps
I have a 60 hr. SMOH 0-300, cruising at 3000, OAT +20 with lean condition at 2500 RPM, I always have solid 300 CHT. I have never had Oil under 200 degrees running Aeroshell 80W, no extra additives. Told buyold timer he uses AvLube Product and says lowers temp and give trouble free operation. Who kno...

Re: Bolt on Turbo Charger O-300
Check with the experts, but RAJAY made several STC conversions for popular engines. I had one on a 225 Cont., in a Bonanza. EZ Manual Vernier control for maintaining 30 inches for take off and climb to 10K Plus. It worked great, also flew a AC 500A with RAJAYs no problems (1980's), too EZ. Find out ...

Re: Gascolator filter
Mr. Horn, how correct you are in your advice. Fuel is of course, the vital 33% of energy needed for engine operation. My go to is Real Gasket Co. I use their excellent Rubber Silicone Gaskets, go on line to Misc. Gaskets, you will find RG-235 gaskets. I still use the Glass bowl, and these are a perf...

Re: '52 prior cylinder baffle parts made
Thanks President, you need to picture the State of Texas and compare to the shape of the 4 Between Cyl. Baffles. I made my own cutting with tin snips and Saber Saw (narrow fine tooth blade). I am set for the next fifteen years at 110 flight hours per year. Enjoy the Annual Reunion, I'll be joining y...

Re: '52 prior cylinder baffle parts made
Do you have any "Texas" Baffles for sale? I would love to buy a 4 pac. just flat, I can cut and brake here. I am making rough items with tin snips, not the quality of yours. JD

1950 0300 A Primer Jet
During my overhaul I removed the Primer Jet and cleaned and attempted to check jet opening with a small needle. Interesting that I thought it maybe clogged after years of non-use or whatever. I discovered it is open and must have a "radial atomizing" arrangement, more complicated than a si...

Re: 0300 Rockers - Fresh Overhaul
Gentlemen thanks for the advice and lubrication education. We test ran the engine on a test cell last week, installing this week and next. I am proud of the detailed and extensive overhaul for sure, and will send a photo when I get completed. We have the required blend of rockers now, thanks to Mr. ...

Re: 0300 Rockers - Fresh Overhaul
Karl, the STC research and certification is being done buy an unknown company, but the Engine Shop in California area is where I hope to get my Certified top overhaul kit. Most likely require all new Cylinder Assemblies, and other hopeful minor engine mods (re-jet Carb, etc.). We estimate the cost a...

Re: 0300 Rockers - Fresh Overhaul
Thanks men, you have clarified to issue. My IA says that in the 1980's many shops just replaced the undrilled units thinking the extra oil would work better. Also the drilled units were cheap and an available replacement (New-Teck). Anyway, I am now scrounging up 6 of the old type units, but cannot ...

0300 Rockers - Fresh Overhaul
Gentlemen, my IA says we must replace the drilled Exhaust type rockers (I have all 12 drilled, since 1984, 900 hrs. no trouble) with 6 ea. of the undrilled on Intake valves. I have reviewed the Association's June 2014 postings and TB on this situation and found no definitive proper blend of rockers....

Re: C-145-2H Engine Overhaul
I have really enjoyed your overhaul photos and ideas. My engine is almost finished, an 0300-C, last overhauled in 1984. I have used many of the same vendors as you. I drove my crank, rods, lifters, and cam to Aircraft Specialty in Tulsa. Bobby gave me the tour, and I am completely happy with my rebu...
