Re: IFR Panel Instrument Arrangement
Thanks, George.
This airplane was restored a few years ago and has nice , new, flexible tubing. Plenty of slack to move the VVI the few inches required.

Re: IFR Panel Instrument Arrangement
Thanks everyone for your feedback. It is appreciated. George, to looks like it should but the plumbing on the back of the altimeter could be an issue. I like the idea if a HSI instead of a DG but is a pretty pricey option. I also considered moving the "T" of the 6 pack to the center four h...

Re: IFR Panel Instrument Arrangement
Thanks Richard and Richard. Your panels are the only two examples I found of this style panel set up for IFR and used regularly. I have flown a few localizer and VOR approaches with the current set up and I am not sure what I want closest to the AI, the T&B, the VVI or the altimeter. Actual XC i...

IFR Panel Instrument Arrangement
Hey folks, we have a 1950 140A with an 0-200 and an 8 hole instrument panel. We are upgrading the KX 155 with a glide slope and replacing the current NAV indicator with a KI209 w/ GS. Here is a pic of our panel. I need to move the VOR indicator out of the bottom center hole due to interference issue...

Re: C170 graphics
My secret plan is to take her to OSH, and in the dark of night early in the week, sneak her into the Nuvite tent where they do the polishing demo's during the day. a few nights later, I'll sneak her back out and no one will be the wiser!

Frank, my mistake on Dave's 140A. It was sold several years ago. I was thinking of his Legend Cub. He had it until last summer.

Re: C170 graphics
4SHIPP that is a really nice looking 140A :D There's nothing like a freshly polished airplane. I am surprised you don't seem to have the takeoff performance with the 0-200 in your 140 as compared to your 170B 8O I would have thought with the lighter airframe its takeoff & climb would have been ...

Re: C170 graphics
97 KTAS at 2400. A bit finer than what you had Geoarge, but I'd hate to give up any take off or climb performance. Seems a bit anemic compared to what I remember from the 170B. It is a fun airplane and trims up nice. An enjoyable cross country plane...lots of time to enjoy the scenery. We are a bit ...

Re: C170 graphics
Thanks. It is a '50 140A with an O-200 and vacuum pump. A bit snug in the shoulders but only 5 knots slower than the 170B on 5.5 gph. Primarily to get my son his instrument rating and build time for his commercial. If it all works out, his first trike gear experience will be whatever we rent for his...

C170 graphics
About 10 years ago, Bela Havasred was kind enough to send me these three vinyl graphics. I scanned them and promptly stuck them in a file. There are two white and one teal. They are free to the first person to send me a mailing address http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m169/fourshipp/image.jpg2_zps...

Tablet based IFR Home Study Course Recommendations..
My son is starting on his instrument rating. Can anyone recommend a good Instrument Ground school study course? What have you or your students used and which ones did you like or not like?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Sheppard IFR
I lived and flew in Wichita Falls from 1996 til last fall and do not know of Sheppard IFR.
Are you talking about Sheppard Air, the test prep company? I have known the owners for 15 years and can recommend them very highly if you are looking for test prep.

Re: Cold Weather Operations
Tape over the air inlets on the leading edge wing roots with duct tape. Otherwise the vents will blow open and you will not be happy...trust me on this one.
