JASCO 50amp ALTERNATOR GOES OFFLINE AT HIGH RPM
Howdy, we have noticed that our JASCO 50 AMP Alternator that was installed many years ago has started developing a weird problem.... I had noticed before that on takeoff/climbout that the AMP meter was showing a discharge but once leveled off the next time I looked it was fine... So the other day ou...

Re: Suggested Engine Cylinder replacement
Thanks everyone. Yes, the cylinder is coming off and will have a local person who works on cylinders look it over.
Hopefully it will be something that can be done with just that valve and then it can go back in place.
Thanks again. I'll post an update after we find out exactly what it was.

Re: Suggested Engine Cylinder replacement
Thanks guys for the replies... The Cylinder has been on the plane, I'm guessing about 8 years. I'd have to go back and look to be exact. The plane only flies an hour or so a month(hangered). So I'm guessing that it has about 100 hrs on it. We already have a mixed batch of cylinders, 4 Cerma-Nil and ...

Suggested Engine Cylinder replacement
Howdy, started in on our Annual today and the #4 cylinder (Pilots side middle) only had about 10psi of compression, all the others were in the 68-75 range. The #4 was leaking compression out of the Exhaust pipe. Question, I would like to get an exchange or an outright cylinder. Our engine is current...

Re: 4 tanks in a 1948 170 ragwing
Thanks George, that is about exactly what we were comming up with. I think he does throw a little bit more of conservativeness in there and only plans for 40 gallons MAX.

4 tanks in a 1948 170 ragwing
Howdy, I posted a followup in a previous topic but didn't get any replies so I'll try its own topic. Friend has a 1948 170 that had 4 tanks in it when he got it as part of his rebuild project. He had the 4th tank approved via Field approval so it is all fine. The questions are: What is the total cap...

Re: 170A/B fuel tank quantity
Great topic to read through, I was down at the airport visiting my 170A and a 170 owner was asking me about my fuel tanks. Here is his question: He has a 1948 170 that had the 3 12.5 gallon tanks in it origionally, at some point before he purchased it as a rebuild project when he opened it up he not...

We have a 170A, that for a long time the fuel selector valve is very stiff to operate, so to NOT risk breaking something, we don't turn it much. IE: As you rotate it, there is a Squeek, Squeek as it groans. I would like to remedy this as I have heard (not substansiated) that these valves are prone t...

Walker Air/Oil Separator for '49 170A O-300D2
Howdy, the previous owner on our 170 installed a Walker Air/Oil Separator from a 180/182 on our bird and never did the field approval to do so. Walker never did a STC for the 170. There is one however for the 172 with an O-300D2 but it shows the oil return line via an exsisting line to a rocker cove...
