Re: Tire STC?
Wyoming1, I own a '50 170A with Goodyear 26" tires on it. So here is the Info you need. If you bought some used AlaskaBushwheel 26" tires, call them and give them the serial numbers off of your tires. They may sell you their STC. There are NO STC's for Goodyear 26" tires on our 170's....

And yet, my '50 170A has one in that location. I have never looked in the IPC at that page, so was not aware it was not supposed to be there.

Re: Alternator STC
When I bought my plane, one of the previous owners had already done the Great Planes alternator STC. I have found it to be a great product. Smaller than I believe the Jasco unit, has been reliable with no problems encountered. If you are going to do the changeover to alternator I think it would be a...

Re: Re-pitch an 8042???
If you run at 2650 you will see the same 105-108 that Joe does with his 8043 at 2450. The engine is rated at 145HP at 2700. I run at 2650 to give me some slight cushion if I start descending and can throttle back a bit. I didn't see a big change from 8.50's to 26's. Biggest change was the prop itself.

Re: Wings not even at rest
Yes, you can tell if your plane has the Pponk kit. As noted, it is just a reinforcing machined block that goes over the inside mount of your gear leg. You can see the block by removing the inspection plate on the floor of your cabin and looking at the gear mounts. Go to the Pponk website and you can...

Re: ADS-B tail beacon (uAvioni)
Thanks for the info Bruce, I've installed one on my 170. I was most interested in the 337 and was it a field approval? Any advice would be handy as I haven't started the process with the 337 yet. Just wondering about the approval as it's not an STC. Read the uavionix website, and the paperwork you ...

About a $1.10 difference in our neck of the woods. Makes it worthwhile to me. I use it all the time, but mix with LL every so often on cross country flights.

Re: 1948 Cessna 170 rudder cables
Back in 2016 I had my rudder cables replaced. Total cost was just a hair under $1000. But, my tail feathers were already off the airplane which I'm sure made it just a bit easier, and Labor was $85/hr back then.Dferr34 wrote:Thanks, any idea of what the cost of replacement would be? Ballpark?

Re: Installing BAS Tail Pull Handles
I built a stand to set the tail on when working in the fuselage, or working on the tail or tailwheel assembly. If you look in the inspection hole or bulkhead holes you can see the blue Packing/Moving blankets I always lay inside the fuselage when I crawl back there. Works pretty well. If you click o...
