Your restoration is looking really good. Be sure to send us more photos as you progress through your restoration. Good luck with the prop situation.

Now, if you could just get rid of that nosewheel! :)

Starter Clutch Problem

Thanks to all who have contributed idea's, etc. I have talked to Sky Tec, they only sell to dealers and/or FBO's. Their price to an FBO ordering just one unit is approx $500.00. As earlier said I don't know what the pinion gear modification would run money wise, but will check our vrs suggested site...

Starter Problems

Well here I go again, asking for help. Its nice to have all of you out there to give input however. I have, over the past 14 yrs had to replace the starter clutch on my O-300B two times and now Ole Pokey is in the shop for her annual & it appears I am going to have to do #3. Don't know why mine ...

Dealing With The FAA

Regarding asking if you can do something to your plane, it reminds me of something someone long ago said to me, "Don't ask, you might not like the answer!"

Magento's

With my recent experinece, now seems a good time to open the question of which mags are the best--Bendix or Slick---both from the cost, reliability and repairability aspects? Don't know for sure how old my Bendix ones are as they were on my plane when purchased in 1989 & were tagged "Rebuil...

Magneto Failure

Aircraft Clock

I appreciate the many suggestions. Had forgotten to ck Chief also. Regarding the windshield cover, I have one, but even in flight the unit will malfunction in summer heat.

Quartz Chronometer

Back in '91 I purchased an Astro Tech LC-2 from Marv Golden for $90, installed it in Ole Pokey and have had good service up until the past 6 mo's or so. Seems like every time the plane is allowed to sit in the sun the chronometer craps out. Its not the battery. Some widget in the circuitry must be g...

FM Oil Filter Adapter

Thanks again for the vrs inputs. I had my AI look at my installation on Sat & he said all looks OK to him. He is doing the 337 & will do a final ck on things when he does my annual in Sept. I think when it comes time for the 25 hr oil change (yea, I still think I'll change the oil @ 25 hrs--...

Oil filter adapter

Thanks guys for the input. As it turns out I safetied the adapter itself just as Eric suggested and by happenstance safetied the filter the same way. Sure is a long bit of safety wire. Would be much better if there was something a bit closer to the top of the filter where the "ears" are, b...

Hot N Heavy

I regularly operate out of a 2000 foot grass stip (42XS). It is slightly downhill to the south (prevailing wind) and numerous times I have taken off with a 250# passenger, full fuel and all the junk we tend to accumulate in our planes. Other than a pipe fence across the FM road it is about 1/4 mile ...

Hill Holder

If memory serves me correctly, the hill holder was when you came up to a stop light, pushed the clutch pedal all the way to the floor it engaged the parking brake (emergency brake) so you didn't have to burn your clutch. Is that about right? Don't recall how it (the brake) released when you let out ...

Oil Filter Adapter (FM Enterprises)

Did the installation of the oil filter adapter Sat with relative ease! Was relived to see that although the oil cylinder transfer flange did slightly hit the alternator, I was able to get it installed without having to do any filing off of any metal. Actually the toughest part of the installation is...
