Re: 27% 170B build

Arash,
You are a true craftsman. That model is going to be awesome! I was thinking of you the other day, we were flying over KHAF on the way to KSFO. What a great place to fly :D Best of luck on your new project.

Re: Lower Cowl Lip size

Dave,
You are more than welcome to try the one we made and see how it works on your bird. It made no difference on mine. Well, it did make more of a rumble on my floor boards but your mileage may differ.

I second AWI, I bought a system from them last year. Great quality and fit. I go back a few decades with Charlie, good guy!

Second vote for ECI. I put six new steel cylinders on a hundred and fifty hours ago, perfect compression and bore scope.
Good luck!

Re: Exhaust flange torque

Thanks for the response. Looking at the SB I think we have the .31-24 studs but I'm not sure and my airplane is an hour away so I can't check it out today. The .31-24 spec. is 200-210 but that seems a bit high to me. Let me know what you think.

Re: Oil temp subject - checking exhaust flanges?

I just received my new exhaust system from AWI and I have to say that it looks top notch. I ordered new riser clamps as well. The two bolt style shown on the above picture. I had the old four bolt style. The question I have is why is there a tang on one side that keeps the two halves from coming com...

Re: How to check for intake leaks

I used the vacuum method and it worked great! Thanks for the tip. No intake leaks to be found so I decided to put the shop vac on the exhaust, lo and behold leaks everywhere. I expected to fid some leaks around the clamps but I also found leaks around the flanges of four risers. My flanges were awfu...
