Matt, I saw some at our local Home Depot just this past weekend. Now, they may call it something different, so, maybe go back in the hardware/fastener department of your local Home Depot and find "the older guy" in the department and explain what you're looking for. For instance, when I fo...

I had them on my '52, had to install rivnuts cause there had never been any or no trace of the original hole for visors on my machine. The units I had slid out towards the center, rotated front and back and could swivel to the side window. I just loved them and are along with shoulder harnesses, tai...

A movie came out on video-DVD this past Tuesday. It is called Rundown starring "The Rock". To get to the jungle in Brazil, he is flown in by a funny character in a C170B; looks like a '52. Lots of action and funny scenes. We get to see the bird a few times and the flight over the jungle an...

You know, when I see people that earn a living from anything to do with aviation, airports or air traffic, it baffles me to see them dump on G.A. Like landing fees, bitch and complain about little planes being in the sky, etc... Do these people know where airline pilots come from?? If G.A dies or ge...

Victor, I don't think that our friend Eric is suggesting you do something dangerous or that could dammage one of these wonderful birds. Maybe what is implied is "under the hood", with a competent check pilot or instructor. Or in conditions that does not have a defined reference to horizon ...

Need another source for the Eyebolt part # 0642105. I called Air Repair (the L-19 folks) on the 16th of Dec. They thought they had stock and price is now $36 US. I called back yesterday and Ooops! Out of stock and don't know when they will have them. They will be manufacturing their own because they...

Kyle, one thing you may want to do is take a nice picture of their field, from the air or your plane just sitting there and pretty on their field or just a very good shot of you and Beckey next to your plane, wiht a nice caption and mail it back to them with your coordinates for them to come and vis...

I flew my 170 in the winter with the back seat off and tons of gear back there for camping/survival. What I did was use the attach points for the seat on the side bolsters and floor to mount tie down rings made up with an angle iron with 2 holes and using the same size bolts as used to hold down the...

Ok doaky boys, listen up... I spoke with Ron Newberg, the owner of the company that mannufactures AVP. He claims it does the same as TCP except without the side effect that it would kill you if you ingested it. But, don't drink AVP either... He ships it all over the Americas and sells in US $ (even ...

I found those "binding posts" at Home Depot! They are called Boston fasteners. They have them in different sizes and lengths. You can even use a hack saw and cut off a little if you need to. JD

I had the same kind of leaks, mainly on one side (left). I kept adding, bleeding, etc, I'd have brakes for a couple of landings, then they'd go mushy, no more pedal, and I was getting fluid spitting out around the cylinder rod. At last year's annual, I paid to get master cylinders pulled, lines blow...

George is certainly right about the gyro. One thing you want to do is to disconnect and remove the regulator and clean it. It usually sits under the panel or on the firewall, sucking all the dust and particles into its filter which gets clogged and restricts proper flow. There was 2 on my plane when...

117 Kts IAS @ 2450 out of a O300-A, sucking 8 to 8.5 GPH??? That's almost 135 MPH! Holy Moly! All I get with mine is about 115 MPH ground speed (GPS) @ 2450 under 5000' and burn around 7.2 to 7.5 GPH (US). My girl sports the 800X6's, no pants, droop tips, 76X53 prop. From what I'd seen so far, other...
