Re: Plastic parts, Airbus V Boeing split- cleaning out my 17
Airbus uses two laminated straps that hold the vertical stab to the airframe. Your 170 stab is held in place by one sheet metal screw on each side and two brackets at the rear of the vertical Stab. I have never heard of a vertical stab departing the airframe of a100 series cessna, so wiggle away. I ...

Re: Plastic parts, Airbus V Boeing split- cleaning out my 17
WOW I thought we were going to put this to bed! Just to be clear I don't know of an Air frame I don't like, I enjoyed flying all of them. Maybe it's the midol talking but airplanes are airplanes but unless you know what your talking about, oh let's just say( it's better to not say anything and be th...

Re: Plastic parts, Airbus V Boeing split- cleaning out my 17
After watching the video I don't know what you are trying to say. They landed the worlds largest passenger plane on a short narrow runway in a strong and gusty crosswind, while the aircraft is 100s of thousands of pounds below max landing where VLS and V app are about the same and ground speed mini ...

Re: Plastic parts, Airbus V Boeing split- cleaning out my 17
Does that mean if , say a Delta 373 was the equipment but they substituted it for a Bus you would stay in the boarding area?
You don't need a flame suit I would be more concerned what carrier I was on than which modern plane I was on.

Re: Plastic parts, Airbus V Boeing split- cleaning out my 17
What philosophy ?since you have lots of experience flying both please explane how the Air Bus is different from a Boeing. There afew difference on how to get the same job done. Fly by wire has been around along time [F-16]. The notion that you can have a pilot with very little exprence climb in a Bu...

Re: Plastic parts, Airbus V Boeing split- cleaning out my 17
Richard what do you know about the B757 center tank fuel pump AD? The one which won't let you use center tank pumps below 1000 lbs because they could over heat and cause an explosion. Remember TWA and the KC135 in MKE. Boeing didn't reengineer the rudder system on the B737 300 200 100 just ask the g...

Re: Plastic parts, Airbus V Boeing split- cleaning out my 17
Yep I remember the side stick problem.Sounded like they weren't watching the ECAM while doing the flight control check. At the carrier from which I am happily retired from we had are share of nightmares on the Bus, most if not all were caused by not following SOP or they had a better way of doing it...

Re: Plastic parts, Airbus V Boeing split- cleaning out my 17
If I remember right United and Usair lost 737 to the loss of control due to a malfunctioning rudder servo. Seems Boeing tried to cover that one up as was reported in the Seattle P I . In every Airbus incident and accident the airplane did exactly what it was programmed to do ie pilot error. I am not...

Re: 170B in Merced, CA Area
I know some time money is no option, and love of a project is the only thing that matters, but what was the cost? We need to look at all the corners. Enough of the romance, what was the cost of putting the Bonanza back together to make it flyable. I've restored motorcycles, street rods, airplanes an...

Re: 170B in Merced, CA Area
Since your in the area, you might want to look at the one that has been tied down for years at the Lincoln Ca airport. Before you spend any money, look real close at how much it will cost you to restore the airplane. You could probably buy 2 or 3 real nice 170's. Enjoy your efforts

Re: Ragwings and Fuel Caps
Thanks Gary we tried the Gates 20 like the blue print said but it wouldn't vent when we tested the transfer. We either got a bad cap or they have changed the venting rate and over pressure rate for California. Sounds strange but they test the gas cap for this when we get are cars smoged.
