The crack is in the large bracket (mine doesnt have the fingers).
I'll take a picture or two in the next day or so and post it here.
...and ask my mechanic to have a look at it.

Re: Looking for help with my tailwheel bracket Mine is crac
Thanks. That's what I needed to hear.
I wasnt thinking along those exact lines but it's the right way to think.
..and there is no log for the drill stop. I didn't even know there should have been one.
I'm learning a lot with my first airplane

Re: Looking for help with my tailwheel bracket Mine is crac
Reviving an old thread since I have the steel bracket. Mine has been tweaked a few times over the years (not by me). It's slightly bent to one side and has a half inch crack that has been drill stopped. 1. Is this un-airworthy? 2. If not, Do these things give adequate indication that they are going ...

Re: Replace Yoke Wheel With PTT
I don't worry about it too much about loosing my PTT button.
At freeway, I'd just squawk 7600 and wait for the black helicopters to show up.
They are real helpful in telling you where to land.

Re: O-300D Conversion
I'm in the same boat as sutcliffe.
My 170b had an O300-D installed in the mid 70's but no STC. I was told an 0300 is an 0300 so it was just a motor swap with the benefit of a vacuum pump.

Re: Looking to become a 170 owner
Best advice I ever ignored, "Have the plane annualed by your mechanic before buying it." Not a pre-purchase and don't believe anything the mechanic might tell you about 'no corrosion', 'everything is fine', 'I ran the engine once a month', 'only flew it to church on Sunday." I made th...

It's good brain food but really doesn't change the cost of getting a cheeseburger at the next airport over
But, I have to disagree. Math is fun.

Re: Manuevering Speed Va definition
...But Va on your airspeed indicator is the same, regardless of air density. I believe the same is true for all the V-speeds, isn't it? Va isnt marked on your airspeed indicator. It's based on your weight and density altitude. VnE is marked on your airspeed but is also dependent on density altitude...

Re: primer line
Being my first airplane, I'm learning a whole lot
I guess I'll add it to the list of other things to take care of this spring.
Luckily, this is a cheap and easy fix (compared to some other things on that list).

Hmm.
My plane has an 0300-D that was installed in the 1970's.
Should I be adding line replacement to my todo list?

All great points!
I have an old VOR antenna on mine that looks like it's off a DC3....soon to be replaced by a GPS puck. I expect 5 knots right there.

Re: New tachometer questions
It's Monday morning so, I thought I'd stick my neck out there. IMO, it's all in what you're used to or what you like looking at. Some people prefer digital watches; they feel they have a better sense of the exact time. For me? The difference in being 15 minutes late or 17 minutes late doesn't matter...

Re: New tachometer questions
Good point. Mine is in the far right side of the panel.
I was hoping to pre-order everything without taking the plane apart to keep down time to a minimum.
