"G".... no wonder you are like you are....LOL.... you are buying bottled water..... most of us just go to the sink and turn on the faucet and get a glass of water to drink! "Although in the industrial world bottled water is often no healthier than tap water, it can cost up to 10,000 t...

Re: The first aircraft flight by the Wright Brothers.
No "G", you missed the point, my question is not that I don't like the old planes, it is this, I own an old plane, but I am paying modern today prices for old plane parts, NOTHING has changed on that engine "except" the prices, same old antique design, same old lack of reliabilit...

The first aircraft flight by the Wright Brothers.
It's almost December 17, 106 years after the first aircraft flight by the Wright Brothers at Kittyhawk, NC, and as I sit here I have to think to myself, in those 106 years we have left the Earth for the first time, landed on the Moon, Mars, a Comet, and the list is so long to write about, so the que...

Re: QUESTION: Oil additives VS Oil brand?
It sounds like a little "Marvel Mystery Oil" is needed in the gas. It works wonders in the round motors.

Re: Searching for a Cigarette Lighter
After reading this from the FAA my guess is that since the "hole" is illegal...... based upon this FAA Document..... anthing you put in the "hole" would also be illegal. Subject: Detecting and Reporting Suspected Unapproved Parts Date: 7/22/08 Initiated by: AFS-350 AC No: 21-29C ...

Re: Searching for a Cigarette Lighter
If that FAA bozo will not approve an empty hole....... he sure as hell will not approve a recepticle from an automotive store! "Cigar lighter receptacles are also useful for running my air-mattress inflator when we go camping, ...they sell for $5 - $15 and are available at WalMart, Academy, ACE...

Re: Searching for a Cigarette Lighter
I hope the FAA guy does not know about the "Flasher AD"! You know the one on a C-172, don't know if it applies to a C-170 though.

Re: QUESTION: Oil additives VS Oil brand?
Refering to: "And aircraft leaning systems do not "choke it down". There are no "manual" chokes on aircraft. " I was refering to the antiquated method of leaning, IE pulling a cable which inturn is connected to a barrel valve which simply "chokes" off the amou...

Re: Searching for a Cigarette Lighter
This FAA guy is living proof of how the FAA restricts any growth or advancment of avaiation!
There are 60,000 FAA personel, and 59,999 are like him!
Of course that's just my opinion!....

Re: QUESTION: Oil additives VS Oil brand?
... The other side of that coin is.... my 1939 Ford Tractor with it's Marvel Scheblber carburetor and magneto are still running and keeping my grass runway mowed. Why change? Actually, I see it the other way around... One of the most well-respected auto manufacturers, using the latest engine...

Re: QUESTION: Oil additives VS Oil brand?
Well I would have to say we have "beaten this subject to death", speaking of death, I am about to turn 60, so it occurred to me that I have more days behind me than in front of me. Why am I bringing this up, well I am a pilot, and in front of me is an engine that is also 60 years old, I kn...

Re: QUESTION: Oil additives VS Oil brand?
My question is: how is it that there are 400 million+ automobile engines (at least) running between o and 100,000 miles on them and all of these "evil" oil additives do not dissolve the bearings, the valve guides, the gears, the pistons and all the other wear items in them, yet if they (ev...
