Re: CS Prop info

David, I didn’t do any before/after test flying, so I don’t have numbers. You could try asking the dealer, Flight Resource, if they have any. I can tell you that the propeller improved every part of takeoff and climb, the prop control is now very effective at modulating descent rate in a glide, and ...

Re: Broken rudder return spring

Credit Dick Lemmon: the trick to replacing the springs is to disconnect the rudder cables at the rudder horn so you have plenty of slack to work with. After replacing the springs it’s fairly easy to reattach the cables to the horn.

Re: CS Prop info

I’ve got an MT MTV-15-B/210-58, 83”. Far better than the Hartzell HC-C2YK-1BF/F7666-2 that it replaced. Made it a whole new airplane.

Re: Door latch trouble - pull bar disconnected

Here’s the strap Bruce mentioned. The outside door handle pivots on shaft “A” and pushes on shaft “B”, which actuates the door latch. B can also be pulled by the strap by the inside handle. So either handle is able to open the door. Or should be. The strap loops around B and is spot welded to itself...

I still have the glass. I like being able to see if anything has made it to the screen.

Re: Rudder Counterweight

Here’s what the balance weight looks like from the inside of the rudder horn. Just FYI, since most people have never seen it.

Please do sign, but if you make an additional comment, be nice. Snark feels good but won’t help.

I learned to fly at Boulder in the ‘80s.

Re: $170 Leaf Spring Bushing

A friend just told me about Textron’s price review: Textron's pricing model is automated and set by computer. Sometimes the algorithm gets to an extreme based on remaining inventory and lead times and cost to reorder. In the lower right hand corner of the textron webpage for a given part, there is a...

Re: How To Remove Vertical Stab?

Gary Do you think it would be good to check and document the rudder balance before stripping the paint? I know people have been surprised how far the balance is off AFTER the job is done. This way there will have a baseline on the balance when it was flying. Dan Absolutely. My recommendation would ...

Re: Avcon w/ low RPM’s

300 rpm is way out of spec. First thing to do is make sure your tachometer is correct. Assuming your engine is making rated power and the governor is set up correctly, max RPM should be set by the low pitch stop in the propeller. That's the screw in the center of the prop dome. It should not be set ...

I got these from an online sticker printer. They’re cheap and have held up better than I expected. I have a Lycoming O-360, hence the octane rating.

Re: brake hoses

On my airplane, all brake lines except for the master cylinder hoses (index 4) are aluminum. I replaced the two index 4 hoses with S1167-4-0100, Spruce part number 05-12083.
