Re: batt. box
I sure like the idea of that compact setup & long life batt, but it seems like a lot of paper work trouble for a bit of "cool" cause the setup I have now seems to serve very well & the issue of more paper work to build a new box makes a simple repair to the one that's been here sin...

Re: batt. box
brad, Naw I would prolly make a rack instead if there was some way to get by with it seeing as how it's already on the firewall as per the avcon lyc STC so being in a fully ventilated area it doesn't need a box. My background is all airline & large A/C I sometimes get confused about 337's STC's ...

Re: Light weight firewall battery and box STC
$200.00 for the batt. brings it right up there to too terribly much! $700.00 is a lot for a new batt & box I guess its time to hone some of the old sheet metal skills & make myself a new box & use the rest of the current gil G25 up.Course Spruce has Batt. boxes & racks for $130.00 to...

Re: Flap rollers SEB 95-3 Rev. 1
Yeah, who knows which is worse paint shops that remove the flight controls & don't know what they are doing on re assembly or the ones that don't remove & rebalance but sign em off that they have. Fact is, most paint shops hire people that have no clue about airplanes anyway. They are just ch...

Re: Flap rollers SEB 95-3 Rev. 1
I bought a complete roller kit from Spruce & delivered same with A/C to the paint shop, thought I did a good preflight before leaving paint shop when paint job was finished. At home with all the time to pour over the A/C in detail found several things that were not correctly installed or incorrect...

Re: Performance changes with Constant Speed Prop
At those prices it won't take you long to pay for a new hub ($2800) & be done with that AD for good. My guy only charges $75 bucks for the eddy current inspection.Of course everything is cheaper in Georgia.

Yeah, figured after I wrote that that it was prolly a case of over thinking which I'm not guilty of very often. Most often guilty of the opposite.

Re: Fuel Lines
According to the info section of the A/C Spruce catalog the 'a' type pointed sheet metal screws are for self tapping into sheet metal & the blunt "B"type are for use with Tinnerman nuts. The two dif screws have dif thread pitches & the "B" type lock when tightened the las...

Re: Towing a 170 on main wheels
Depends on how far & how fast whether or not you might need to think of checking the wheel alignment ,if its correct to go forward its incorrect to go backward. It will not have a tendancy to follow like a trailer. If it has the correct tow in for forward movement then it will be towed out going ...

Re: What tools and spare parts would you bring?
Truth is it don't matter which tools or spares you take they ain't gonna be the ones you need when you get some where else so you may as well go as light as you can on the tools & spares & load up on lux items like spirits & chow.I like smoked oysters & sardines in mustard sauce,bean...
