Re: O360 engine models for STC

Metal Master is correct if the second suffix letter is a D as in O320H2AD or in this case if it was o360 A1DD it would be a single drive dual magneto engine. In this case O360 A1D means that it has a different magneto than a A1A, a Bendix 200 series (each magneto has its own drive) on the A1D. Most ...

Re: Low Oil Pressure

Just as a safety note to anyone reading this thread, oil and welding oxygen do not mix, could cause an explosion, hence the warning on the oxygen pressure gauge that says "use no oil". If I was going to use a gauge set available to me I would use shop air and a differential compression tes...

Re: O-360 install

Many thanks Vertical. When (if) I get caught up, may have to do it before I get caught up :) I will fill out a 337 and submit to my PMI, then it is up to them.

Re: O-360 install

Great. Look forward to it. In general were you happy with the DelAir kit? I have have good paperwork for 337, testing and approvals on the 26" goodyears if helpful. Although, not sure how you roll (so to speak) in Canada. I ran through a pair of the GY 26's. You might appreciate double pucks. ...

You can buy sheet rubber from Grainger, different thicknesses, types, and softness.

Re: Rudder Attachment Bolts

I have a couple of those Handee Clamps and have given a few away to friends who are working mechanics. Work great for this job, hold the nut on the bottom and turn the bolt. Strong enough that you can tighten elastic stop nuts. To put the bolts in try the smallest needle nose Vise Grips you can find...

Not if in positive G coordinated flight. Watch the Bob Hover video of him rolling the Aero Comander with the filled glass setting on the top of the panel.

Re: O-360 install

I will reply with a question, would you want a piece of foam on the firewall with a fire on the other side making it way to hot to touch? Not me I would use fiberglass.

Re: Jump seat installation

Since the seats you have are duplicated as PMA replacements by Airframe Innovations if it were me I would just contact them and see if they would sell you their STC only. Easiest route to a legal installation. They also handle the seat belt installation issue.

Re: Cessna 170 Accident Discussions #1

My take away from this is the risk associated with "carrying" maintenance problems. A problem had been reported by several members of the club, the reason could not be found, and the problems was not repaired. And yet rather than ground the airplane the club continued to carry the problem ...

That is assuming that your inspector knows what a original looks like. It is often hard to find an inspector that is intimately familiar with the airplane model being inspected.

Re: Cessna 170 Accident #2

Thank's George. I believe we are on the same page. I also have a spot where I expect to be off the ground in mind on every take off, and I have and do review the performance data but infrequently use runways or have loads I am not familiar with. I was kind of stirring the pot with my post but wanted...

Re: Cessna 170 Accident #2

George, I have an ATP with type ratings in piston, turbo prop and jet aircraft, and a CFI. I do not calculate the accelerate/stop distance for my 170B. Accelerate/stop distance is not applicable to single engine piston aircraft. Where do you find the data for accelerate/stop in the Cessna 170 AFM. I...
