L-19 step

Due to my age and a bad back I have a problem getting in and out of my 1951-170A.
Questions:
Would an L-19 step fit on my a/c ?
What kind of paper work is required ?
Has any of our members done this ?

1947 Cessna C125

Pictured on front cover of July 2011 Wag-Aero catalog.
Never seen one, my airport bums say said plane does not exist.
Looks like a Swift to me. What say you?

Would a 170-A fly without flaps

My 1951 Cessna has the flaps off while I remove some corrosion.
I took a survey with my airport bums. 75% say yes, 25% say no.
Please keep in mind I am not foolish enough to try this.
What say you?

Name of part is skin upper aft section fuselage (sta. 108.00 to 140.00) My tin knocker says a donor part would not fit correctly, the r...

This should get all the dogs to barking

I learned to fly in 1955 and my old instructor taught me to turn the prop by hand 6 times before start up. His reason: to get oil up into the cylinders. Today the mechanics laugh at me and say I could never turn the prop fast enougth to do this. Their theory: when prop is turned by hand this pulls o...

Re: Sun 'n Fun '10

Chris,
If you want to meet some 170 folks during the 2010 Sun'N Fun at LAL do this.
Watch their schedule and attend the 170 forum ( usually 2 hours). Lots of good
info about the 170's and good honest people you will enjoy associating with.

New windshield

My 1951-A serial # 19942 needs a one piece windshield/windscreen.
1. Where is the best place to buy?
2. What thickness?
3. Which is better, clear, tinted green or grey?
4. How many hours will it take the men in blue to install?

Re: yoke freeplay

Cut a piece of 5/8 inch garden hose into two 3 inch pieces. Slide them over your u-joints and keep on trucking.
