Can't get away from George.
George everywhere I go I run into your people. I just landed in Farmington NM to trade my 190 ( which used to be Ron's) with Ron H's 180. He said you guys used to be mistaken for one another at work.

Re: B&W 170 Art
That photo is now missing from the fly baby store in BNA. The store clerk said that they have had many pilots try to buy it over the years. In the last few months there was a remodel and nobody can find the pic.

Re: Safety Stands
Mike, I have a set of those bogart safety stands in KSAC that I am not using. You are welcome to borrow them.

Re: 180 Gear vs Lady Legs
I figure I ought to reply to this considering the pics are of my airframe. I put the 180 gear on the 52 170. I liked the results with stiffer gear and better off airport landing characteristics. On pavement it was very stiff and tended to bounce more and was less forgiving for the super smooth landi...

Re: 27% 170B build
Get it done quickly so you can fly it in the back of your 170 to the STL convention.

Re: 190
George,
It seems once again we know the same people. The trade was with Ron. The swift is a rocket ship.
And I ran into another who knows you. Spent some time with Dan Hopkins in Dallas last week. Weather was too crummy to fly his 170.
The 170 did not end up with my data plate.

Re: 190
Someone in Idaho bought it and used mine and another and pieced together a beautiful 170.

190
It has been a while since I have posted so I figure I would say hi. Since the 170 ground loop I have been involved in a small club at my airport. We basically have 10 guys and 10 planes. Everything from a twin, rv's, bonanza, stearman, and some odd ones like a culver cadet. Recently we traded the tw...

Re: 170 gone
Hollow aluminum. Axles and 406 elt were on next years to do list.
I operate off some pretty tight strips sometimes, this was on a nice big paved runway.

170 gone
Well I can tell the story now that the pain is over. I'm tired so I will be short, I'll follow up later. A few weeks ago landing San Carlos with the family in an 8 knot crosswind. I guess my scan broke down and maybe I left the tail up too long. (I don't know because I still to this day can't figure...

Re: Climb Prop Basics
I went from a 7653 to a 7651. Lost 4 knots or so in cruise. Highest altitude I have seen is just over 12k. That is light and I quit trying to go higher because I had terrain cleared.

Re: Photo Album
As close as you can park to the beach in CA without landing on it. If you look close you can see the 170 on the right side of the panorama.
