Re: No Oil Pressure
Does the tach work? It is driven off of the oil pump gears. If the tach works, the pump is at least turning. Hope this helps!

Re: STC Tailwheel 172 Conversion
Hi Bill, I've done the Fravel conversion on my 172. While I can't really help with your original request, I would like to offer the suggestion of focusing on the tailwheel bracket first. The gear box parts are readily available. The tail wheel bracket is the hardest part of the conversion in my opin...

Re: climb prop question
Hi,
The Kenmore STC does not cover the six bolt propellers. It only covers the 1A175DM propeller. I just installed a 1A175DM8042 propeller on my taildragger 172 and the speed decreased 15 mph. The climb rate increased 300 fpm.
Hope this helps!

Re: FRAVEL STC tailwheel conversion
Hi, I converted my 172 in 2006 using the Fravel STC. I would recommend it over the Bush STC as all of the parts are either Cessna made or locally fabricated. With the Fravel STC, you don't have to rely on the STC holder for any parts support. Support from either company is virtually non-existant. Go...

I think that would be the 2-1/16 inch holes for the automotive style oil pressure and oil temperature gauges.

Re: Engine sputtering and low static RPM?!
Hi Mark,
I would make sure you didn't get the carb heat air intake ducts full of wash water. The flexible air ducts could have enough sharp bends to hold quite a bit of water. Hope this helps!

Re: C-145 Crankshaft Question
Hi, I overhauled my O-300A this past winter and used a crankshaft from a C145-2 as they are the same part number. However, it has the 1/4 inch hole in the flange but most definitely has the counterweights. I would not assume that yours is undampened based on that hole in the flange just as I would n...

Re: SNL 7-8-53 Propeller Installation
Bruce,
My current propeller is a 7653. The 1A175/DM is available in 8040 and 8042. As I said, I have no firsthand experience with the seaplane prop, but I hope all of the trouble is worth it. If I got another 100 - 200 fpm I would be quite satisfied.

Re: SNL 7-8-53 Propeller Installation
Hi Bruce, My airplane currently has a 1C172/MDM propeller. The 1A175/DM is the seaplane propeller approved for the 170 by STC. I'm looking to gain some added climb performance and I'm willing to trade some cruise speed as most of my trips are under 200 miles. I do a fair amount of camping in the sum...

SNL 7-8-53 Propeller Installation
Gentlemen, In my quest to obtain a field approval for the 1A175DM propeller for my taildragger 172, I find that a copy of SNL 7-8-53 would be beneficial to my data package for the FAA. If someone could forward me a copy of the actual document it would be greatly appreciated. msfullen at gmail dot co...

Re: oil temp system
Cessna Service Kit SK182-108B provides a kit for the installation of an electric oil temp gauge that fits in the same hole as the original. It comes with everything you need except circuit protection and firewall sealant. It appears to cover all of the 170 series and early 172's as well as most othe...

Re: Looking to overhaul C-145
Happy New Year Everyone! I'm currently overhauling my O-300A myself. I called a few shops just to see where I'd end up in comparison. Poplar Grove was one of them and what I found was that they don't necessarily comply with the mandatory replacements parts list per the TCM Service Bulletin. The thro...

Re: Bartone / Benham Exhuast Pics
Hi George, I didn't press the issue very hard since I got my money back with no problem and the botton line was that the installation was not STC'd for the 172. I was told that the early 172's were essentially the same as the later 170's and that the installation would be the same so there would be ...

Re: Bartone / Benham Exhuast Pics
Hi Bruce, Sorry to hear of all your troubles as of late. I'm sure it will work out for the best. My problem with the Benham pipes is that I have a 172 and his STC is only good for the 170 series. I actually bought his STC and pipes a while back because I got some information that the STC actually in...
