You are correct. When Pratt took over PZL they sold the Franklin rights to a group in Poland. So far only talk and no support. The main individual said starting at SNF things are looking better as far as parts support. We will see, we have heard it before. Keep our fingers crossed.

Re: Franklin 220, motor mount STC and support
Rumor has it the owner of the Franklin type certificate in Poland will be at Sun N Fun with big news on parts availability. We have heard it before so we will see if anything new is said or offered.

Re: Request for photos
Also if you search the forums you can find where some have replaced the fuel selector mounting hardware with nutplates to make removing anytime at a later date much easier working thru the access hole. Excellent idea.

Couple pictures of VA99. Located on the Northern Neck of Virginia. Bordered by The Chesapeake to the East, Potomac River to the North, and The Little Wicomico River to the South. 2nd pic on final in the Stinson. 3rd pic taxing to South end for departure.

Re: How long is your 170's airstrip?
Its all in the approach. Clear approach, shorter runway. We are on 2000 with 60-70 foot trees on each end. It was a incentive to lose 20 lbs. A friend is on 1200 with clear approach and gets a 195 in and out.

Re: Lower Forward fuselage cracking
Gary The rivets are a NAS1097AD. Aircraft Fasteners have some. You can go on their website and get tech info and dimensions. Used for countersinking in thinner material. I think that skin is .032 thickness. Check the rivet head height in a -4 diameter to make sure it is less. Talk it over with your ...

Re: Lower Forward fuselage cracking
My thoughts are the cracks either start, or are not helped by old, hardened, and collapsed rubber isolators in the firewall. These are out of sight out of mind. See if you can look in the log books to see when, if ever they were replaced. Cessna did away with these on the redesigned early 172 firewa...

Re: Lower Forward fuselage cracking
One area to check are the rubber isolators at the engine mount to firewall. These are 2 piece and can be hard over time and not working. Paragraph in the early 100 series service manual on installation torque of these.

George posted this in 07. (sorry George) Landing Gear Corrosion Inspection (Svc Man revision 7/1/07) Postby gahorn » Mon Sep 24, 2007 3:55 pm The following temporary revision should be added to your 100 series service manual (official Cessna revision fwd'd from FAA): 5-4. Re: Refinishing Spring Gear legs
One other thought on any sanding. The underside of the legs are shot peened to a specific dimension. If you were sanding to remove paint you would reduce the shot peened surface or remove it. Cessna has a spec on passable depth. Just a thought.

Ryan Thanks for the kind words. I thought you would enjoy the manual as much as I did. The pictures are great. If you go to any fly ins and see a Yellow small tail Stinson make sure to say hello. Camden is the next one 10/2-10/4. Good luck with your 52. It's the best of both worlds, big flaps and pi...

Re: Original Compass Mounting
The compass cover you show is original for 52 with the gyro panels. Also a owners manual was made for 52 which is unique for that year. That's why it is hard to find. I have one I no longer need. If interested pm me.
